Lidget Green Walking Club is an established walking group set up to promote the health and wellbeing of the local community, with particular emphasis on the "over 50's".
We aim to increase the physical activity levels of the people of Bradford; in particular those who currently lead sedentary lifestyles and have more barriers to participating in physical activity and accessing the countryside, eg people with mental health problems, learning difficulties, sensory impairment.
The walks we arrange can be anywhere from a mile in the vicinity of Lidget Green, where we are based, to a 22 mile trek across some of Yorkshires finest peaks. Walking is claimed to be the most popular activity in the UK. The country has a comprehensive rights of way, which permit easy access to the countryside as well as wilderness areas such as the Yorkshire Dales.
Benefits of health walks can be seen in both the individual and the community by making it possible for people to:
Take 'green' exercise
The new premises are now ready thanks to funding from WREN's FCC community action fund. We would like to thank them and everyone who has made this possible.
We will be having an open day and Community Lunch on 12th July 2017. Everyone is welcome. Come and see how you can get involved. We will be serving a free "High Tea" and there will be Art and Craft activities taking place on the day.
Our current activities are listed in our timetable below.
The Lidget Green ladies Art group is a friendly group that gets together on a Thursday morning between 10.30 and 1.00 at the Lidget Green Healthy Living Centre, 36 - 38 Lidget Place, Bradford.
